Greetings! As most of you know, I am in the process of photographing participants for my 2nd installment of the Naturally You project. For those who are wondering, this 2nd installment is based around the theme "Normal" is not "Normal" (or "Normal" ≠ "Normal"). I have come to the point in the project where I will be posting teasers with images of the participants thus far (one participant each week). So...without further ado, meet Chiirp and Ricki Sparx:
Chiiirp - "I follow my own rules and do what I like...and that seems to be a problem for some who do not express themselves. I enjoy dark art, horror, all things weird and taboo and in this society, it is frowned upon. I do not care to follow the expectations of anyone else. I enjoy being me and radical in my own right. I am an artist and cannot be anything but that. This has caused me to be a bit more isolated, but I find fun in my solitude."
Ricki Sparx - "What makes me different and weird is my character, who I am. Im one in a trillion. Even the way i play the guitar, its different. My dark aura and even me being a buddhist in Atlanta from the hood, lol. im beautifully different and love it."
I met Chiiirp for the first time in 2014 when I was putting together the initial "Naturally You" project. Even then I could tell that she was one who relished her individuality. Chiiirp was the very first person I contacted for this project - that is JUST how much of an impact she had on me. She is visual artist, a performance artist, a makeup artist, and SO much more.
The day of this session was my first time meeting Ricki, but I could immediately tell that he was passionate about his craft as a guitarist (as well as his relationship with Chiiirp). He lives a life based solely on love.
