From Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar to Arusha - Tanzania offered up an ABUNDANCE of nature, beauty and culture. The contrasts of quiet/relaxing beach front to bustling city to unspoiled nature had us in constant awe. A destination to return to sooner than later:
The architecture, the people, the culture…it is more than one can take in on a single visit. Havana is a wealth of history and friendly encounters (best brush up on your Spanish). Despite the language barrier, I learned so much and am looking forward to another visit in January.
A beautiful ceremony at the historic First Presbyterian Church in Marietta, GA. Their first dance was one of THE most graceful waltzes I'd ever seen. Wishing nothing but continued happiness for Elizabeth and Halley.
A uniquely special occasion, as this was the wedding ceremony of a family member; Michael (my cousin) and Novia Lindsay. A truly joyful occasion!

A participant in my Naturally You - "Normal≠Normal" project, Brock turned out to be a very confident young man. During our interview, he let it be known that he did not always possess that confidence. It was an insightful interview full of laughter (provided by both he and his girlfriend).
Jazz In The Ring is an outstanding concept put together by Pearl Fils-Aime and Xavier Biggs that combines the worlds of jazz and boxing. The inaugural event was a resounding success, and Jazz in the Ring will be held on the 1st Saturday of each month. Just a few images...
Strolling through Little 5 Points when I came across Pharaoh playing guitar outside near Moods Music. He was gracious enough to pause for a chat before launching into some of his music. This brother had a sound all his own…TALENT.
Friend and Naturally You - "Normal ≠ Normal" participant Colour Moi Tone of Colored Babies Inc.. Talented artist, and great person all-around! Feel free to reach out to her for custom work. You will NOT be sorry...
Macy Gray gave a rousing performance at Atlanta Jazz Festival 2017's Contemporary Stage. Festival goers enjoyed a full 90 minute set of all of their favorites from Miss Gray (along with a little back-and-forth banter). Definitely one of the many highlights of the festival...
Our port of call during the Tribe Tambor Cruise. I was fortunate enough to have friends living in Nassau, so my day began with them giving me an impromptu tour of the island. From a local rum cake bakery, to a waterside fish market (where I was treated to a FRESH conch salad...meat fresh out the shell - DELICIOUS!). I learned about Fort Montagu (the smallest and oldest fort on the island), got a glimpse of the oldest church in the Bahamas (St. Matthews Anglican Church), visited Fort Fincastle atop Bennett's Hill, and walked down the Queen's Staircase.
DJing since 2014, Beyun is quickly proving herself to be a dominant force in the underground. In her first two years, she started a successful monthly techno party in Boston called VAULT and performed with DJ Pierre, Dennis Ferrer, The Black Madonna, DJ Minx, Fred P (Black Jazz Consortium), Kai Alce, Jeff Derringer, and Kim Ann Foxman. Recognizing her talent and ear for music, DJ Pierre invited Beyun to join his Afro Acid team in Atlanta and offered her a role as A&R and Label Manager for his record labels Afro Acid and Jack Trax. One of the many fun weddings I have captured. A great couple and fun-loving family always makes for some truly memorable images. This are only a few of the MANY images captured of this barnyard wedding...
What I immediately saw in Lauren was a confidence (which showed through her famous mega-watt smile) that could not be denied, as well as a sense of style that had me thinking (mistakenly) that she was a participant in the fashion show. See more here.
From Afropunk ATL 2016 - Lion Babe put on a spectacular performance, leaving it all out on the stage. See more from Afropunk ATL here.
My primary goal in covering Afropunk ATL was to capture the individualism on display by the attendees. This proved to be an easy task, as Afropunk prides itself for enforcing the following rules: "No Sexism, No Racism, No Ableism, No Ageism, No Homophobia, No Fatphobia, No Transphobia, and finally, No Hatefulness".
This was my first time seeing Nik West live - Atlanta Jazz Festival 2017. Her energy was phenomenal, the music was the perfect combination of funk, soul, and everything in between. She gave me life!
Music Midtown occurred over a period of two days featuring heavy-hitters like August Alsina, Elton John, Drake, Alice in Chains, Icona Pop, Lenny Kravitz, Van Halen, Sam Smith Billy Idol, and many more. See more images here.
One of my favorite pastimes is to simply wander around the Metro Atlanta area capturing random images of anything that catches my eye. I find that I tend to meet a lot of interesting people this way. On this particular excursion I concentrated more on objects and landmarks...
